frequently asked Industrial questions

Is colour selection important in industrial coatings?

Correct use of colour contributes in a very real way to:

  • Safety – Use of focal colours to draw attention and be instantly visible in case of emergency.
  • Identification – Consistent and exclusive use of colours provides ease of identification of specific areas or applications. Use of associative colours such as blue for water pipe lines also provide great help in identification.
  • Reflective control – Fatigue caused by eyestrain is a common cause for accidents. Colour schemes chosen for reflectivity of light will improve the situation especially in areas lacking natural lighting.
  • Decoration – Correct use of colour will improve productivity, reduce accident, improve morale and reduce fatigue. A well chosen colour scheme inspires cheerfulness, encourages cleanliness and develops pride.
Is buildcoat a necessary part of the coating system?

A build coat or intermediate coat increases the total Dry Film Thickness (DFT) of the system and thereby provides improved barrier against corrosion.

Is primer a necessary part of the coating system?

Primer plays a number of roles within the coating system. It provides anti-corrosive properties, provides adhesion key of the system to the substrate and also has a degree to abrasion resistance to protect the substrate from mechanical damage.

Is technical inspection required for my project?

The role of a technical service inspector is:

  • inspecting the substrate and ensuring surface preparation in accordance to specification
  • advise on product use and handling
  • assessing product quality at site
  • assessing suitability of atmospheric condition during application
  • maintaining records for reference

Berger Technical Inspectors are armed with full set of equipments to conduct necessary tests on site and ensure that typical application problems can be overcome.
